Oh how I love
IKEA. Jesse and I went this afternoon for the first time since the
IKEA near us opened back in March 2008. My parents had the kids for the afternoon so we decided to go over there since we were "kid-less". It
definitely was nice being able to look at everything (even if it was at a fast pace. Thanks Jesse!) without the kids running every which way. I loved all the room setups. But it made me want to redo my whole house in
IKEA products!
Here's what we came home with today:

Jesse bought a Wok

I got this for the kids room to store their stuffed animals and other odds and ends

This nice coffee table for our living room. It was $20! It will make a good laptop-game-homework-etc table
We will definitely be making a trip back. Jesse even said it "was interesting and fun" and that he would go again!
nice! you know I have an IKEA close to me too...well, I have a lot of cool things close to me, HAHAHA
ReplyDeleteThat's the LACK coffee table; I want that for my living room in black. I just got the new catalog this month, so I have to go again.
ReplyDeleteI got a couch there for $279, and it has removable covers - great for people with pets *or* kids!
We also made an awesome desk setup from IKEA parts. We each have two large desks joined with another large desk that juts out of the middle. We connected each desk with brackets for stability. Then, because I wanted a monitor stand, I took two red IKEA shelves, bolted them together, and put legs on them. For storage, I got two FIRA storage shelves and painted them red and black; they sit on either side of my monitor on the aforementioned red shelves. I'll take a picture for you if I can ever get my living-in-sin partner to clear off his desk.
I also got the GRUNDTAL bars to hang my pots and spices in the kitchen. And I got the BENNO CD tower to store my CDS and DVDS. The BENNO is slim, but it's also 7' tall.
It's truly a nerd paradise. IKEA will take you as far as your creativity and skills with a power drill will take you. And you strike me as someone who's creative and could find a lot of fun in brandishing a power tool. :)
I really like all the LACK pieces. And for $20 I'm not too worried if the kids accidently color on it, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe little $8 end tables are really cute too! Now I'm eyeing this bunkbed setup for the girls. OMG I could spend so much money there if I had it!
