For the girls for Christmas we have decided to buy a cart with shelves. Something like this picture. And I'm going to fill it with every sort of craft item I can think of and find. Almost 90% of the time the girls are doing some sort of art activity when they are here. They hardly play with the toys they have. They both just really like to color or make something using their imagination. I'm hoping this will help organize our sad little craft area that we have right now, that is totally overloaded with stuff that it's hard to find anything.
As I was searching for some ways to get organized and some products that might actually help me to do it and to keep up with it, I found a forum that mentioned this product. It's called a Fridge File. I don't actually have this, but I'm thinking that I might need it. I like the pockets for storing papers. Right now, I have important papers paperclipped to my calendar on my fridge. The pockets have labels too.
This next product is the Ultimate Family Organizer. Again, I don't actually own any of these products yet so I can't give a review on them, but I am seriously considering them. The site also has some really cool note pads, like the Babysitter pad and The Eat Sheet pad, for meal planning. I like the idea of having one organizer to keep everything in. But I also have to have a calendar up somewhere that I look at daily. I'm thinking it might be too much to have to write on several different planners.
One of my main concerns is all the papers that the girls bring home from school. Since they are both now in school, there are alot of papers and memos coming home. It's so hard to keep up with it all. I was saving all of the work they were bringing home, but finally had to give in and realize that I can't save every little piece of work they do. So now I just save the really special papers or writings that they bring home. I'm brainstorming some ways to file their papers until I get a chance to look through it. I usually do a quick glance over things that come home, but don't actually get to really look over it until later in the day.
Another goal on my list is to clean out and organize our hall closet. I'm only posting these pictures as a way to make myself do it. Once you have seen it, then I will make myself declutter and organize it. Ok...here it goes...
That was so embarrassing. So that is my goal. Check back and maybe I will post 'after' pictures of my closet and reviews on those products mentioned.
If you have any tips, suggestions, and/or product reviews leave me a comment/link in the comments section! :)

Don't be embarrassed - we all have a closet or two that look like that....ok, my whole room looks like that ;-)
ReplyDeleteAs far as craft things... don't buy too much - kids are great recyclers ;-)
Keep all your Christmas cards. they are good for cutting out and making things with. I used to make little boxes out of old cards. You'd be amazed too what kids can glue together. We used to do a lot of recycled crafts for kids at Sharon Woods (pop bottles, paint google eyes, pipe cleaners... muffin papers... really random stuff ;-)
Great Ideas, Erika! Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are inspiring me! I really need to do the same thing. And I totally need one of those fridge file things....
