Sushi and Purple Umbrellas

This is going to be a kind of random rambling of sorts. I love sushi. It's been a few years since I was first introduced to sushi by my friend Emily. We weren't such sushi snobs as we are now and would go to Wild Oats (now Whole Foods) and pick up a little box of California rolls made by their Sushi Chefs. It was great. I was then introduced to Kyoto Sushi Bar by a co-worker of Emily's and we tried that out one night. We've been hooked ever since. I pretty much like a variety of sushi, though I haven't been brave enough to try things like sashimi. I like the House Special Rolls, the Gourmet Rolls and the Regular Rolls. It's also a big treat to go and order a Sushi Boat! The menu says Sushi Boat for 2, but this thing is huge and includes 7 rolls of your choice!

The whole point of talking about sushi is that one of my next tattoos is going to be a little sushi roll. I can't wait. It's going to be really cute and colorful. I'm only in the beginning stages of tattoo planning. I'm thinking I'll have this done in a few months.

The other part of the title of this blog is purple umbrellas. This is also another tattoo idea I have and has made me really excited. All of my tattoos are pretty significant and have meanings behind them and I kind of wanted something that was just for fun. I love the color purple and I was thinking that for as much as I love the color purple, I don't have any purple tattoos. So I was sitting and thinking and chatting on AIM with Trischa about what kind of purple tattoo I could get. Purple stars, fairies, butterflies, etc were all out. They are incredibly popular. I want something original. Camryn is home with me so I ask her what kind of purple tattoo I should get. She says "purple water". Ok, purple water, purple puddles, purple raindrops, PURPLE UMBRELLA! And it really did kind of happen like that. After searching for pictures and sketches of umbrellas and trying to decide if I like a more vintage umbrella, something more rounded on top, a curved or straight handle. I finally find this picture and really kind of love it (minus the arrows). Trischa described it as whimsical, which I really like.
So there you have it. Sushi and purple umbrellas. And yes, this is really what I do all day long. Don't judge me.

  2. A sushi roll is a great idea for a tattoo.

I wish I lived near you gals so we could get sushi. Everyone I know hates it, and I can't devour a sushi boat alone.
